High Desert Detention Center is a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Type II jail at 9438 Commerce Way in Adelanto. A release from this facility is a county jail event unless the record says the person was transferred to another agency. The facility's location creates a common mistake. Adelanto also has the separate Adelanto ICE Processing Center at 10400 Rancho Road, but ICE detention is not the same thing as High Desert county jail custody. About High Desert
The Sheriff's High Desert page says the facility opened in January 2006 and was the first Type II facility in the High Desert. It provides secure housing for over 2,100 inmates. If the county record says released to ICE, verify the county release in JIMS, then move to ICE. If the person was in High Desert but then sentenced to state prison, use CDCR/CIRIS and court records. If U.S. Marshal information appears, separate the local housing record from federal custody. This prevents a false negative caused by searching the correct name in the wrong agency database.
